Welcome to New Mexico

It was a perfect day for riding.
I pedaled 81 miles and made it all the way to Taos.
The library was closed today, so I will try to catch up on Monday.

You are in Ranch Country

Stations of the Cross Shrine

This is a well known Catholic Shrine in San Luis. I took a hour and walked the Stations and ended up in a Chapel on top of a mountain butte.

16 mile walk to the Shrine at San Luis, CO

These marchers were headed to San Luis. They were on a pilgramage for religious vocations.

Colorado's oldest town

Los Caminos Antiguos

Ft Garland is such an interesting town.

Chrissy & Beat (Swiss name)

Here is the Cooking and Service team at the Old West Cafe.
Beat owns the business and does it all.

A hearty breakfast and then off to San Luis

Guess what?
I have a favorable wind this morning and 48 degrees. Perfect riding weather

Ready to Ride

Lot's of sunscreen is required.

Life Preserver Found

You would be surprised what can be found on the side of the road.

Dick Zimick & Hayden

On the ride up North La Veta Pass I stopped and visited with Dick.
What an interesting man and someone who is still going for his dreams. He was a rancher in Montana for fifty years. Dick, thanks for the water and conversation.
Take some time and relax, you are working too hard.

Up and over the summit

Yesterday was a challenging ride.
It felt great to finally see the top.
Oh by the way, it was an amazing ride down the other side.
I met a really interesting and fun couple at dinner last evening. More details at the next posting opportunity.
It's Saturday, and the road sign outside indicates 78 miles to Taos.
Let's have breakfast and hit the road.
Enjoy your day.
